Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What does 'bespoke' mean?
be●spoke adj: said especially of clothes. Making or selling custom-made clothing. A bespoke tailor.
The word bespoke has its roots in Savile Row, where it refers to clothing made to a client’s exact specifications. Bespoke tailoring involves the creation of a unique pattern for each client, differentiating it from made-to-measure, which merely adjusts a standard preexisting pattern.
I want to get Bespoked. How does is work?
We believe ordering custom clothing should be just as fun as wearing it. When you first come in we’ll start by asking a few questions about your tastes and preferences so we get to know you better. Once we know what you like, we’ll help you choose from our wide range of fabrics and styling details, including the boldest linings around.
If you need a little extra fashion advice, we will guide you through every detail. We pride ourselves on our expert and honest style advice. We’ll happily give you our opinion on everything from the cut that works best for your build to patterns and colors that are most flattering on you.
Once you’ve designed your new clothes, we’ll take a whole lot of measurements to ensure a precise fit.
Should I make an appointment?
Yes, please – but don’t let this scare you! We encourage appointments so that each client receives the attention he deserves. We’re happy to accommodate same-day fittings whenever space is available, so don’t hesitate to call us at the last minute.
How long will my appointment last?
Generally speaking, the design and measuring process takes about an hour on your first time visiting us. If you’re in a rush we can do a fitting in less than 15 minutes. We’ve had some appointments last more than three hours, so it depends on the client.
I've never had a suit before, do you offer style advice?
Absolutely, that’s what we’re here for. Simply drop into our showroom or contact us with your questions and we’ll provide you with our opinion on what will work for you.
How many suits should I own?
This factor is by far the one that has the biggest affect on durability. If we assume you have to wear a suit 5 days a week, if you only own three suits, two of them are going to be worn twice every week, assuming you’re rotating them correctly. Furthermore if only one of those suits is light enough to be worn in the hottest summer months, you are going to end up wearing it every day for up to 2 months. This can mean that the suit is worn out after one summer.
Ideally anyone who wears a suit 5 times a week should have at least seven suits: 1 winter weight for those ‘below zero’ days, 4 year-round medium weights that will be worn the majority of the time and 2 summer weight suits that can be rotated during July and August.
Anyone who flies to hot countries extensively on business will need more than 2 lightweight suits.
One way of improving durability without buying so many suits is to buy an extra pair of trousers. Typically the trousers will tend to wear out first as the jacket is often removed at work. If the trousers are rotated then the suit will take far longer to wear out.
Can my suit be altered later if I gain or lose weight?
Generally, yes. We leave extra seam allowance to allow our garments to be easily altered. We offer free alterations on your garments for six months after delivery.
How should I care for my new clothes?
1. Dry clean your suits only when they’re dirty, ideally not more than three to four times a year. The chemicals used by dry cleaners can damage the fabric, and unfortunately, the finer and more expensive the wool, the more delicate it is. When selecting a dry cleaner, try to find one that uses organic cleaning agents, which are considered to be more gentle on fabrics.
2. After each wear, hang your suit outside the closet overnight so that moisture and odor can escape the fabric. Hang your trousers long ways from the bottom hem with a pant hanger – this allows the weight of the garment to pull out wrinkles naturally, thus reducing the need for pressing.
3. Do not use starch on your shirts. It makes the cotton fibers brittle, which in turn can cause the fabric to wear out more quickly. Also, be sure to remove your collar stays as they can cause scorch marks if left in when the shirt is pressed.
4. If you have problems with underarm stains, ring around the collar, food spots, etc. apply Zout stain remover as soon as you can take off the shirt. It will keep the stain from setting before you launder the shirt.
Do you make women's clothing?
Yes, to a reasonable extent. It is always recommended that women bring a sample of your garments for us to duplicate from.
How does payment work?
We request a half deposit at the time the order is placed. The remaining balance is payable once your order is delivered. We accept cash (THB, USD, EUR, CHF, AUD, & CAD) and most major credit cards (except American Express). Really good scotch has been accepted on occasion as well.
Do you guarantee your results?
Absolutely. We stand behind each and every garment with a complete satisfaction guarantee. Because our garments are specially made for each customer.
